Chancellor's Awards for Public Service 2007-2008

Call for Nominations

The campus community is invited to submit nominations for the Chancellor’s Awards for Public Service to recognize students, staff, and faculty for their contributions to civic engagement in 2007-2008.

In the spring, a reception honoring this year’s awardees will be hosted by Chancellor and Mrs. Birgeneau at University House to celebrate the depth, breadth, and creativity of UC Berkeley’s public service.

Individuals, groups, and programs may be nominated in the following categories:

Civic Engagement:  Recognizes public service by individual undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff, as well as student groups.

Research in the Public Interest:  Recognizes research that addresses critical areas and issues affecting our local, state, national, or global communities.

Service Learning Leadership:  Recognizes faculty leadership in developing or teaching a service-learning course.

Campus/Community Partnerships:  Recognizes a program or project that brings together UC Berkeley students, staff, or faculty and community groups to improve the quality of life in our community.

Community Impact:  Recognizes a university-sponsored program that has made a difference in the community.

A nomination form and guidelines can be accessed from the Community Relations website at communityrelations.berkeley.edu and the Cal Corps Public Service Center website at calcorps.berkeley.edu

The deadline for nominations is March 18, 2008.  A committee of faculty, staff, and students will review the nominations and select the award recipients.

Thank you for your assistance in recognizing UC Berkeley’s individual and collective contributions to public service.
