Explore the excitement in Cal's classrooms, labs and museums, and enjoy music, dance, science, sports, tours, and the natural wonder of the UC Berkeley campus on Cal Day 2003. Choose from hundreds of activiies for visitors, young and old.

  • A special family day with art projects, music, storytelling, and tours at the Berkeley Art Museum
  • "Playing with Time" and "The Idea Lab" at the Lawrence Hall of Science

  • Professor Yale Bronstein, School of Information Management and Systems, examines the history and myth associated with South Hall, the oldest existing building (130 years) in the UC system

  • 11th Annual Celebration of Children's Literature, featuring author aned illustrator appearances and book signings - including current national Bood Award winner Nancy Farmer and author and illustrator Ruth Heller. The event will also offer storytelling, musical performances, workshops, and other children's activities

Tips for Cal Day Visitors

  • Food.  Campus cfes, the cafeteria at the Lawrence Hall of Science, and the Bear's Lair and Student Store in the Student Union will be open. The campus is full of picnic sites, and local restaurants offer varied menus.
  • Transportation.  Public transportation is the best way to get to Cal Day. Several AC Transit bus lines go directly to campus, and the Berkeley BART station is just a block away. From the station you can catch a free Cal Day cable car, with onboard student guides, for stops all around campus. Shuttles also run to the Lawrence Hall of Science, the Silver Space Sciences Lab, and the UC Botanical Garden.
