DEAR reader

Mary Catherine Birgeneau

Mary Catherine Birgeneau, wife of UC Berkeley's Chancellor Robert Birgeneau, reads to Richard Sugerman's kindergarten class at Berkeley Arts Magnet School on March 15, aka DEAR Day (Drop Everything And Read).

She joined some 150 community volunteers for this annual event, sponsored by the Berkeley Public Education Foundation.

The book?  We're Going on a Bear Hunt, of course.
