YEAH (Young Entrepreneurs at Haas School of Business)

YEAH's Young Entrepreneurs Program (YEP) is currently seeking 40 college-minded, business-focused eighth graders to enter its free two-year business-related academic preparation program. YEP targets students who may be the first in their family to attend college, with a 2.5 or better GPA and a high level of commitment to achieving their educational goals. The summer workshop runs from July 22-August 2 (Mon-Fri, 8:30-4:30 pm). After the summer workshop, students attend sessions on two Saturdays per month during the school year from 9:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m.

Summer Half-Day Camps

The LHS offers more than 30 half-day camps for ages 4-14. The cost ranges from $143 to $305 a session. Lunch and late pickup are available. For information on which camps still have openings, see the LHS website.

Science Fun Full-Day Camp

A new, week-long, hands-on science camp exploring biology, chemistry, physics and math, as well as games, puzzles, stories, hikes and art.

  • Level: Entering grade 3
  • Enrollment: 8-16 campers
  • Cost: $289 ($259 for members)
  • Dates/Times: July 29-Aug. 2; & Aug. 5-9 (five days each), M-F, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Beastly Botanical Safari Full-Day Camp
A LHS/UC Botanical Garden Full-Day Camp

Explore cacti, edible tropical fruits and Native American plants used for food and clothing, from deserts to the redwoods. Live animals help answer questions about each habitat. All classes are at the UC Botanical Garden. Bring a lunch.

  • Level: Entering grades 3-4

Aquatics Programs

Many classes, at different swimming levels, for kids ages six months to 17 years, from June 17 to Aug. 22 at a cost of $75-$95.

Athletic Camps

Specialized sports camps include football, baseball, soccer, volleyball, lacrosse, softball, crew, track and field, and basketball. For ages 7 to 17. Costs vary.

Golden Bear Gymnastics
  • Dates: Six sessions from July 8-Aug. 23
  • one-week or two-week full-day or half-day
  • Ages 4-18.
  • Costs run from $190-$425, depending on type of session.

Cal Adventures

Classes in sailing, windsurfing, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, seakayaking, team building and backpacking for ages 8-17.

Skateboarding

The camp is staffed by expert instructors who have more than 15 years' skating experience and more than seven years teaching skateboarding and snowboarding to youth for ages 8-16. The summer camp for boys and girls is full. There is still space in the girls' summer camp and one-day clinics. Costs are $345 for the camp and $110 for the clinics.

Strawberry Canyon Recreation

Expert instruction in sports, arts and crafts, first aid and more for kids ages 5-14. Costs and dates vary.

Village Basketball Camp

These camps emphasize basketball fun and skill development - dexterity ball handling drills, offensive and defensive patterns, improvement through fun and hard work. Director Rick Slettedahl.

Double Diamond Baseball Camp

Learn fielding, hitting, pitching and base-running techniques. Play scrimmage games each day. Director Brad Gooding.

Andy Bonchonsky's Soccer Camp

Players improve fundamental soccer ball skills and learn small and large group tactics, how to score goals, goal-keeping skills and more. All level players welcome.

Pacific Soccer Training Camp

A camp stressing fundamentals and confidence building, for recreational through advanced players. Director Teale Matteson

Kid’s Corner Summer Camp

  • Ages: 7-12
  • Hours: M-F, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • I: June 17-28, Sports: baseball, basketball, gymnastics, soccer and new games.
  • II: July 1-12, Spanish focus: field trips, cooking, language and culture (no camp July 4)
  • III: July 15-26, Drama: theater production, improvisation, games, scenery, propmaking & costumes.
  • IV: July 29-Aug. 9, Eco Adventures: creek biology, cooking chemistry and math mysteries.
  • V: Aug. 12-23, Sports Adventures: hiking, biking and rock climbing.
  • VI: Aug. 26-30, Mystery Camp: A combination of our favorite camp activities.

Cost: $300 I-V (2-week sessions); $185/V (1-week session)

Extended Care

Extended Care hours are available for participants aged 7-12. Children attending Option C may join activities of Kid's Corner Summer Camp. Extra fees for some field trips. Provide lunches for children attending afternoon. Space is limited.

Academic Talent Development Program

Math, Engineering, and Science Achievement Program (MESA)

An intensive academic enrichment program for students entering grades 7-12. MESA supports academic achievement and admission eligibility and, to the extent possible by law, emphasizes participation of students from groups without proportional representation in universities. The application deadline for the six-week program starting June 17 was April 1l, however, occasionally spaces are available after the deadline. Berkeley Art Museum

Masterworks of Chinese Painting: In Pursuit of Mists and Clouds presents a panorama of Chinese art representing virtually every period of Chinese painting over the last 900 years, through May 26. Asian Elephant Art and Conservation Project: more than 50 paintings by 16 accomplished Asian elephants, along with photographs and documentation about the project, through July 14. Hearst Museum of Anthropology
