On
September 5 to 8, the nation's only traveling art
museum on a train, the Artrain, pulled into Richmond, setting off
a lively, four-day
celebration. The exhibit, titled "The Artistry of Space," featured
selections from NASA's art collection, which includes
works from some of the nation's finest artists interpreting the
experience and achievement
of space travel. In partnership with the Richmond
Arts and Culture Commission, UC Berkeley welcomed visitors to its
nearby Field Station,
where school classes and families viewed moon rocks,
donned a NASA space suit, enjoyed hands-on science activities from
the Lawrence
Hall of Science, and thrilled to a demonstration
of by Richmond high school students. |
