UC Botanical Garden
The Spring 2001 issue of Cal Neighbors listed a number of romantic and beautiful campus venues for parties and weddings. Somehow we omitted one of the most popular and delightful spots - the UC Botanical Garden. The 34-acre garden is located in Strawberry Canyon above the Berkeley campus and overlooks the San Francisco Bay. Containing 13,000 species and more than 21,000 plants, the garden features rare orchids and desert succulents, tropical ferns and native plants.

For weddings, couples may chosse from a number of lovely sites, including the Garden of Old Roses, the Oak Knoll and the Redwood Grove and Amphitheater. "There's a towering feeling and, on a hot day, it is cool and serene, says Rental and Tour Coordinator Margie Richardson of the grove. The Botanical Garden includes an indoor conference center and accommodates groups of up to 100.
