Chancellor
honors university-community partnerships Nine "University-Community Partnerships" will be honored by Chancellor and Mrs. Robert Berdahl at a campus reception September 25. This is the second year UC Berkeley has recognized partnerships that link the expertise and commitment of campus and community groups and local agencies to improve the quality of life of local residents. The partnerships were selected by a committee of faculty and staff, working with Peg Berdahl, who suggested the idea of an annual recognition event that would honor collaborations between the campus and community. In addition to the Parents' Guide (featured in this issue), the other groups honored this year are: The
Suitcase Clinic, a student-run program that offers
health care, medicine, vision screening, legal advice
other services free to low-income and homeless persons. Stiles
Hall Mentoring Program, which has paired low-income
students of color with Cal student mentors for over 70
years. |
